The
instruments are initially presented in their cultural context and are
played separately to appreciate all the subtletiest.
Then many musics make it possible to hear them played in their
musical context.
The use of a kind of musical layer effect makes it possible to
understand the construction of each rhythm.
Entre chaque escale musicale des ambiances sonores
complètent le voyage.
The
schools and the colleges will receive teaching cards in order to
prepare the pupils to the spectacle. These cards contains many
historical and geographical references.
For the music schools the main rhythms are retranscribed there to work
before or after the spectacle.
Between each musical stopover the sounds environments supplement the
voyage.
From Africa, cradle of humanity, the drum did not stop travelling. Before giving rise to the Jazz drumset it conquered all the continents. It takes different forms but remains always the instrument which creates the rhythm. "Le voyage du tambour" tells one of these stories, that which starts before its start of the African continent, on board boats filled of slaves, his stopover in Cuba, its passage on Brazil, and its arrival in the United States of America.

What they say :
Jean-Michel Maury (compositor, clarinet teacher and working with little
children):
"the
Voyage of the Drum is not only a spectacle, but also a
demonstration rich in pedagogy. All the ingredients are there :
geographical and historical anecdotes, technical explanations, and well
on, musical examples interpreted with a great control. Everyone finds
its account there : schools of music, primary schools and
colleges ; a good idea of P. Lawrynowicz to transmit its passion and
its
knowledge!"
