Now let's
start with a big chapter of the drumset : independance.
Independance is the ability to play simultaneaously different
rhythm with each limbs.
We've got faur limbs : two arms and two legs. Let's start easy with
only two limbs. The two arms allow us to play two sounds : the ride
cymbal and the snare drum.
the right hand plays beats/pulses on the ride cymbal, so we draw a four
beats bar.
Let's count loud all the beats : 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 .Each digit is a beat in
the bar and show it'd place in this bar : 1 for the first beat, 2 for
the second beat, 3 for the third beat, 4 for the fourth beat.
the left hand will paly one or many beats on the snare drum.
These exercices are written on a bunch of lines named a staff. This
staff make easy the reading of the different parts af the drumset. Each
note on the staff represents a sound from the drumset.
The staff is made with five lines and so four inbetween lines. We count
the lines down to up.
the cymbals are represented with crosses upon the staff. The snare drum
is written in the third line and the bass drum below the first line.
Instead of the other instruments we don't use a clef that give us the
name of the notes (such as A, B, C, D, E, F, G).
the differents sounds of the drumset have no height, so we can't give
them a name, the notes on the staff just allow us to find wich part of
the drumset should be use.
So we use a special clef sort of a rectangle at the begining of the
staff.
The two dots at the beginning and at the end of the bar are repeat sign
and here indicates that the bar must be repeated many times.
